Saleen Motors International (SMI) distributes award-winning, high-performance Saleen vehicles that encompass styling, handling, performance and power components for the world’s most passionate drivers.

The legendary Steve Saleen was born and raised in the hot rod culture of Southern California, United States, where his passion for the American Muscle Car was created. At age 24, he took his hand built Mustang GT350 to the track and began his racing career with a win at Southern California’s Riverside International Raceway. In the midst of a successful racing career he applied his business degree, experience he gained working in his father’s manufacturing company, and his passion for American Muscle Cars to establish the Saleen brand in 1984 with the goal of manufacturing and selling the world’s finest high-performance vehicles. His enterprise established an industry of developing, manufacturing, and selling high-performance vehicles that are race proven and street legal. After 30 years of championship racing, Steve Saleen continues as the visionary of SMI and the father of “The Science of Speed”.

In his personally designed S7R Steve has won races at virtually every major race track in the world including Daytona (U.S.), 24 Hours of Le Mans (France), Silverstone (England), Monza (Italy), and Nurburgring (Germany).

As the History Channel points out, Steve Saleen is part of a trio of legendary performance car builders alongside Enzo Ferrari and Ferdinand Porsche.

Because of Saleen’s expertise in high-performance automotive manufacturing, the Ford Motor Company asked Steve to design the Ford GT40, The Ford GT-R, and the supercharged Harley Davidson Ford F150. Saleen was also approached by Dodge to engineer the paint and sub-assembly of the Viper.
